Dental Implant: Dental implants are substitute tooth roots that allow replacement of the entire missing tooth. Made of Titanium or Titanium alloys, they are shaped in the form of natural tooth roots and are placed directly into the jaw bone under the gum.

Implant Overdenture: A removable prosthesis with artificial teeth that sits over and is retained & stabilized in position by dental implants (see case studies for pictures)

Dentures: An artificial substitute for missing teeth and gums because there are no remaining teeth

Removable Partial Denture: A prosthetic device containing artificial teeth supported on a framework and attached to natural teeth with retainers and rests, removable by patient for cleaning.

Crowns: An artificial replacement to restore a broken down tooth, which covers all the remaining tooth structures, making it look and function just like a natural tooth. Material used for a crown are cast metal, porcelain, or a combination of materials such as metal and porcelain.

Bridges: Prosthesis used to replace missing teeth it is anchored to the teeth next to missing tooth, prevent cavities gum disease and premature loss of other teeth. It requires preparation of the adjacent teeth not removable by patient.

Laminates: Also know as Veneers; are usually made of ceramics placed or bonded to facial tooth surface in order to alter the shape and color of the tooth for either functional or cosmetic reasons.

Rehabilitation of Traumatic Injuries: loss of teeth and the supporting/surrounding oral structures following trauma such as a road traffic accident or sporting injuries. Such cases require careful planning and close collaboration with the treating surgeon. This is to ensure that the surgical phase of the treatment will facilitate proper restoration and replacement of those structures being replaced by artificial means.

Oral Cancer Reconstruction: Restoration and replacement of teeth and the supporting oral structures following surgical resection and associated chemo & radiotherapy in the treatment of oral cancer.

TM Dysfunction (TMD): Formerly (and erroneously) known as TMJ. Conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint and its associated structures; characterized by pain, discomfort, joint sounds and deviated or diminished range of movements.

Major Reconstruction: This implies restoring/rebuilding a significant part of the oral cavity. It usually means that most or all of the teeth will have some sort of dental restorations. It very often involves replacing some missing teeth with either crown bridges or dental implants.

In Office Whitening: This is an in-office procedure for whitening natural teeth. Licensed dentists are able to use stronger materials to whiten the teeth therefore having a much more dramatic result than over the counter products available. In Office Whitening can be done with UV light activated bleaching components or custom fabricated bleaching trays that can also be used at home.
